What else can I do?

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.”
Psalm 37:5-6

It's been a few weeks since I've posted.  During that time I've had a lot of fun times with many, many family members.  It's been great to unplug myself a little (although I did occasionally check my email or hop on facebook for a moment... hey, I can't be completely out of the loop!).

During these weeks of fun in the sun, walks along familiar grounds, and memorable moments with loved ones my heart has been somewhat burdened with worries that are never far from my mind.  I realized very quickly that I needed to take advantage of those moments when my two year old was entertaining himself on the beach, quiet afternoon nap times of basking in air conditioning, and after bedtime collapses on the couch after a long, fun day.  In those peaceful moments that could often only be measured in seconds, rather than let my mind wander or rest my eyes for a moment, I found this time could best be spent in prayer.

"Roll the whole burden of life upon the Lord. Leave with Jehovah not thy present fretfulness merely, but all thy cares; in fact, submit the whole tenor of thy way to him. Cast away anxiety, resign thy will, submit thy judgment, leave all with the God of all....The ploughman sows and harrows, and then leaves the harvest to God. What can he do else? He cannot cover the heavens with clouds, or command the rain, or bring forth the sun or create the dew. He does well to leave the whole matter with God; and so to all of us it is truest wisdom, having obediently trusted in God, to leave results in his hands and expect a blessed issue."
Charles Spurgeon

Regular daily prayer time is very important.  Surrendering those extra "me" moments when we often fret over life's troubles are just as significant.  Continue to bring to God the burdens that are His to carry anyway.  Surrender control to the One who is always in control.  Love God more by trusting Him with your greatest fears and anxieties.  Praise God for continuing to be all He has promised to be and all that we ever need.

"Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love,
that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine.
Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you."
Psalm 33:18-22

  1. Prayers have been abundant here as well. I'll definitely be praying as tomorrow comes and for the future!

  2. Thank you, Carrie! The timing of this is only from the Lord. It did my heart good, and I hope the same for yours. Please know we are praying for tomorrow and the days and weeks ahead.
