You know at the top of your web browser where you can type a web address in?  Just to the left of that is often a picture the corresponds with the particular website you are perusing.  This is called, I recently found out, a "favicon".  (Please don't laugh if you consider this to be common knowledge.  My computer terminology is average at best.)  If you are a blogger and you use Blogspot, you have an ugly white "B" inside an orange box.  But, not me anymore!  I found a great site that had a tutorial on how to change it!  It was incredibly easy and I had to share it with any fellow bloggers out there who may be interested.  No joke, I spent all of 15 minutes on the entire thing.  Done.  (My computer savvy husband was quite impressed.)  So...

This week's 2 Thumbs Up goes right along with the organizing theme I seem to have going on this week.  (I must really be craving more order to my life!)  While looking through the A Bowl Full of Lemons blog I came across a link for Cozi.

It was a recommended family organization site, so I thought I'd check it out.  We've used it for 2 weeks now, and let me just say... We LOVE it!  I almost don't even know where to begin!

What is Cozi?  According to their site, "Cozi is a free web service that helps families manage crazy schedules, track shopping and to do lists, organize household chores, stay in communication and share memories—all in one place."  


What do we use it for?  There are a bunch of tools on the Cozi site, but the ones that we use are the calendar (which can be synced with Outlook and other online calendars), to do lists (which have many options... like for each family member, or for home and for work, or an actual Hunny-Do list!), and shopping lists for specific stores.

What is my favorite feature?  There are a lot to choose from, but I think my favorite feature is the app for the iphone or droid.  We don't have an iphone, but we do have an ipod.  The ability to access my shopping and to do lists wherever I am, including checking off items as I'm in the store has been wonderful!

Why use Cozi?  Whether you have teenagers in your home or it's just you and your hubby (or even singles/students), you can benefit from Cozi.  If you want to be more organized, plan ahead, and accomplish more goals, Cozi is a great way to help you out.

Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law?  Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?  For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.  Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.  For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.  But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.  God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.  It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.  Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Snack & Play Travel Tray

I've seen items similar to this and recently stumbled onto this particular one.  What's so appealing about this one over others?  It's made of nylon and has a foam core, which means it's flexible for storage purposes but still sturdy.  It has also been tested for safety and poses no concern in the event of an accident.  It can be secured onto a car seat or stroller.  I love the idea of limiting the tons of crushed goldfish that end up in my son's seat by the end of a long trip or the number of cups, books, and toys that fall off his lap and roll around into various unreachable areas of our van.  This will very likely be a purchase we make before the summer arrives.  For $19.99 + shipping, it doesn't seem like a bad deal.  Check out the web site here.

There's been a lot in the media lately about new car seat recommendations made by the American Academy of Pediatrics that had me scratching my head and asking a lot of questions.  In doing a little online research about all of this information, I came across this excellent video that cleared a lot up for me.  It's a longer video, but if you are a parent, grandparent, or caregiver this is definitely worth watching.  I learned a lot, and I'm sure you will, too!

It's been pretty busy around here what with a toddler getting over a cold and cutting 2 year molars (3 down, 1 more to go!), getting ready to take a short vacation, and Bible study last night.  Needless to say, I was not able to put a primitive pick up yesterday.  So, I'm going to count today's post as both My Primitive Pick for the week and my 2 Thumbs Up post. 

There are areas of my house that, from time to time, drive me insane really irritate me because of their lack of organization and constant disarray.  So, this leads me to contemplate what I can do to solve this issue.  One of these most recent areas of my home has been the bookcase in my son's room.  It is a constant disaster area and I don't have the time (nor the desire) to straighten it up every couple days. 

 

Another thing is that I also want my almost 2-year old to be able to put his books away by himself, without me having to re-do everything he's done.  I couldn't really come up with any good ideas at first, but then (during some online decorative browsing) I stumbled onto this idea on the Better Homes & Gardens web site.  

With a first glance, this could almost look like my son in this picture!  Maybe someday I'll have a picture similar to this...

Brilliant!  No having to stack books upright (which can be very difficult for little ones).  It's very easy for little ones to put away without Mom having to come and fix it all after.  My next thought was, this would be so easy to make!  So, of course, I began strategically planning when I was going to bring this little project up to my hubby.  I waited until he finished his current project, highly praised him for all of his hard work, and then said something like, "You're really getting good at building things!" (which is the absolute truth!).  By this point I think he was beginning to catch on.  I brought up our son's awful bookcase (my husband is quite an organized, type a sort of person) and said I had a solution.  Long story short, he's on board with it, but we haven't really gotten to it yet.  Hopefully soon I'll post about this project being completed!  Then it will be time to move on to the next project!  (I have a wonderful husband!)

I must say that during our current bedtime woes with our almost 2 year old, the thought has crossed my mind that something like this could be what is actually going on.  Most people don't give toddlers enough credit.  Parents know... they're smarter than they usually let on.  Watch, learn, and laugh.
